ABOUT BETHANY

Hello and welcome to my page! I’m glad you are here! I’d love to hear from you! Let me know if you’d like to have a free consultation or are interested in starting counseling.

I Am…

·       A proud member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, trained in Yale LGBT-CBT and offering experienced and affirming support for our community.

·       Challenging the gender binary and systems of oppression with a transfeminism perspective.

·       Using cultural humility focused on anti-racism and multicultural intersectionality to treat minority stress.

·       A HAES-aligned advocate for body positivity and acceptance of humans of all sizes, shapes, gender expressions, ability levels, and backgrounds

·       A member, proud supporter, and active advocate with PFLAG, Planned Parenthood, The Trevor Project, The Human Rights Campaign, Outright Vermont, NAMI, The American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, the American Counseling Association, the American Rehabilitation Counseling Association, and Licensed Clinical Counselors of North Carolina.

Together, Let’s…

·       Identify how culture, families of origin, lifetime experiences, societal racism, patriarchy, misogyny, ableism, transphobia, homophobia, fatphobia, capitalism, socio-economic opportunities, and other forms of societal expectations interact with your own physical, spiritual, and mental self.

·       Acknowledge the positive influences, support systems, resilience, and strengths that are part of your identity and life experiences.

·       Recognize your strengths and get to know your beautifully unique self, even when society doesn’t provide the inclusive environment that we all deserve.

·       Collaborate to set goals you’d like to achieve, seek out accommodations, explore careers, and learn about self-advocacy.

I’ve Been Preparing By…

·       Earning my Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from West Virginia University in 2020.

·       Becoming a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina.

·       Working with Stargazer Counseling in Apex, NC since January 2020.

·       Becoming a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) with experience and training in supporting neurodivergent individuals and those living with disabilities, chronic illness, and chronic pain.

·       Practicing trauma-informed counseling.

·       Earning a certification in grief counseling.

·       Gaining experience supporting a variety of clients including individuals living with eating disorders, issues related to aging, exploring sexuality and gender nonconformity, managing societal expectations alongside neurodivergence, living with anxiety, depression, dissociative identity disorder, substance use disorder, and more.

I Believe…

·       In my responsibility to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to be heard and understood.

·       In collaborative, client-led sessions where we recognize what you need to live your most authentic, peaceful, and meaningful life.

·       In the importance of building a strong support system, recognizing your strengths, finding empowerment, and realizing your self-worth.

·       You are the authority on your life, and I use my training and experience to support you in reaching your goals.

·       I currently have openings for individual Teletherapy.
