Guided Meditation Script: Gifts

I am going to be posting a series of guided meditations that can be used simply as meditations but may also be used as prompts to art and creative writing practices. These scripts have been written with the goal of helping develop your intuition, tap into your creativity, and improve self-awareness.

At the bottom of this script, I have posted a recorded version.

Gifts

Find a comfortable spot to lie down and relax.  Protect your space by making sure devices are turned off and doors are closed to protect this time for yourself.  Light a candle or use essential oils to mark this time as a period of rejuvenation. 

Let’s start with helping you to relax your body.  Imagine a warm towel spread across your feet.  Feel the warmth ease into the soles of your feet and begin to spread through your feet up to your ankles.  As you feel the warmth spread, allow your muscles to become soft, loose and relaxed.  Allow any tension to melt away. 

Feel the warmth spread up your legs slowly into your shins, knees, thighs and hips.  Allowing any soreness or tightness to loosen.  Feel the warmth east up your ribs, chest, neck, and to the top of your head.  Feeling the muscles loosen around your mouth, eyes, and forehead.  Imagine the warmth running down the back of your neck into your shoulders, arms, and hands.  Allow any pain or tightness to melt away. 

***Pause***

Now, as your body enjoys this moment of rest, focus on your breath.  Take a deep breath and slowly release it.  Place your hand on your belly and notice the rise and fall as you breathe deeply all the way from your belly to your lungs and release.  As you breathe in, take in peace.  As you breathe out, let go of any negative self-talk or distracting concerns. 

***Pause***

Take a moment and think about a place that feels safe to you.  It can be real or imaginary.  This will be your special place during this meditation today.  I want you to take a moment to truly look around you and take in the scents, textures, sounds, and colors around you.  Take your time and embrace this moment of safety and security. 

***Pause***

Now, notice a door or opening.   Allow yourself to feel curious about what is on the other side.  Move towards the opening and step through it. 

You find yourself in a garden.  Imagine what your garden looks like.  Notice the scents, textures, sounds, and colors around you.  You see a pool of water with a soft blanket in front of it.  You are drawn to the blanket and sit down.  You close your eyes for a moment.  You know that this is a magical pool.  It allows you to see the good in yourself.  It allows you to appreciate the gifts that you possess.  Now, imagine opening your eyes and looking into the pool.  What do you see?

***Pause***

Take time to appreciate yourself.  Take time to feel gratitude for your skills, gifts, strengths, and beauty. List these gifts to yourself.  Take note of them, because you will need to remember this truth as you go about your journey.  Whenever your journey is challenging, you will need to have the confidence to persevere and move forward.  Your gifts will allow you to know your true course. 

Now, run your hand through the water, and the image will disappear.  You are left just looking into beautiful clear blue water. 

Then, something catches your eye.  You turn to see what it is. 

It is an animal.  Think about what animal represents your intuition that might be on this journey to help guide you.  It has come to guide you to the next part of your journey.  Follow them as they go down the path.  The path leads out of the garden and into a forest at the base of a mountain. 

They take you to visit a cave.  They look deep into your eyes and you know that there is another animal in the cave that has a gift for you.  Imagine an animal coming out of the cave.  It carries a stick for you.  The stick represents your power.  The animal places the stick on the ground and presents it to you.  You know that this animal has protected this stick for you.  It holds great power. 

You pick up the stick and you feel the energy move through your hands and body.  Allow yourself to feel the power and strength in your body, heart, and mind.  Appreciate that you have great power to do good in the world.  This power may give you an indication of what your life purpose may be. 

Thank the animal for this gift.  Hear any words of wisdom that are meant for you.

***Pause***

Now, it is time to continue on your journey and follow your animal guide. 

This time, you begin to climb.  You use your stick to help you.  You grow warm as you climb higher and higher.  Finally, you reach the top of the mountain.  The view is breath taking.  Take a moment to appreciate all that you see around you.  The sounds, scents, textures and colors. 

***Pause***

Notice that you are hungry and thirsty from your climb.  Your animal guide leads you to a small basket sitting on the ground.  You open the basket and find food and drink.  Take time to spread out a cloth and enjoy this food to restore your body.  Share your food with your guide.  As you lift the cup to drink, you know that this food is magical.  It allows you to look into your future without fear.  It allows you to understand that what is meant to be will be.  You do not have to force or pressure yourself or anyone else.  You just have to follow your heart and appreciate the wonders around you.  You know that any mistakes or failures along your journey are meant as lessons to train you and help you grow.

Stand back up and look at the wonders and beauty around you.  Feel your power.  Feel your peace about your future.

Now, your guide says it is time to go again.  You continue your journey down the mountain and into the Forrest.   As you walk through the trees, you notice how the landscape is changing and soon you hear the sound of the ocean.  Your heart beat and breathe begin to move to the rhythm of the waves as they crash against the sound.  You can smell the scent of the marsh and feel the air around you become heavy with moisture.  It cools off your warm skin.

As you take your first step onto the sand, you slip off your shoes to enjoy the feel of the cool sand against your feet.  You walk along the beach and feel the sun on your face, wind in your hair and salt on your lips.  You feel at peace and rejuvenated. 

Your guide wants you to go for a swim.  So, you slip your clothes off and step into the water.  It is cool and clear. As you sink into the water, you find that you are able to breathe under water.  You are filled with a sense of wonder and excitement.  Take time to explore and see what treasures the ocean has to show you. 

***Pause***

Deep under the water, a creature calls to you.  You swim toward it.  This creature is old and wise.  It is lying on a large bed of rocks and shells of beautiful colors.  You know that this is where people travel to let go of regrets and resentments.  The sea creature says that it doesn’t want you to be held back by past mistakes or challenges.  It wants you to forgive yourself.  It wants you to pick up shells and rocks and place them on the pile.  As you place each item, imagine letting go of regrets and resentments from the past.  Notice that you begin to feel lighter.  Pressure lifts from your mind, body and spirit. 

As you place the last shell, your body starts to float back to the top of the water.  You wave goodbye to your wise creature, thanking them for their help.  You hear any parting words of wisdom they have. 

***Pause***. 

Your journey is coming to a close now.  You have accomplished a lot today.   You return to your garden and move back through the opening to your special place. You see a table and a book sitting on it.  The book has blank pages and a pen next to it.  You sit down and write down a phrase or two that are important to you so that you will remember this day.  Write down the gifts that you discovered about yourself and any new insights you have into yourself. 

***Pause***

Read what you wrote.  Commit it to memory.  Now, it is time to return to the present.  I will count to 5.  When I reach 5, you can open your eyes and be fully awake.
